Fangirl Moment: The Beauty Junkee Turns 6!

It's The Beauty Junkee's 6th Anniversary Giveaway! Hurray!

Isn't all that stuff absolutely drool-worthy

I find it fitting that the very first thing I post about is the blog that showed me that beauty bloggers are not required to have completely oil-free, non-sebum-producing, soft-as-a-baby's-butt, alabaster-white skin. My main pusher and cheerleader, Mao/Food + World + Me does have baby-butt face, so it did take a while before she got me to believe that I could be doing this thing. She gave me a master list of all the blogs she was following. Who better to ask about beauty blogs than beauty bloggers themselves?

The Beauty Junkee was also the first "local" blog that I trusted (aside from Food + World + Me, of course) because it was so honest. I was so sick of being misled by other blogs that proclaimed every last product to be absolutely  ~ ☆ wonderful ☆ ~. Hah. I don't believe in not saying anything if you have nothing good to say. What would be the point of reviewing anything if you're not going to be honest?

I'd been following TBJ's posts for a few weeks, getting a feel for what makes a beauty blog, when I came across the one that made me believe that this was worth doing: The Maybelline White Superfresh review because finally, this was a product I was interested in, and it wasn't a review I had sought out because I already wanted the thing. It was a public service announcement to the shiny-t-zoned creatures like me that live deep inside their office cubicles. But the great paradigm shift came when she pointed out a "dry pimple" that was on her cheek. I won't link directly to it or post the picture, but I'd just like you to know that it was there and that she even mentioned it. And that was it. That was the big announcement to this self-conscious girl of the leaky pores:

BEAUTY BLOGGERS ARE ALLOWED TO HAVE ZITS

Now head on over and "like" the living daylights out of all the sponsors' pages.

This has been a public service announcement
